Lyrics
Who writes lyrics then, and where do you get your inspiration from, I've just started recently and I've really just got a book of random phrases, I can usually write a couple of verses or a chorus but it's hard writing enough stuff to consitute a full song while keeping a continuous theme running through each verse.

i write raps. got about 45 full raps now. All are stories. I started off writing fake raps about guns and shit, but thats not hip hop, so now, for the past year or two i've been telling stories through rap.
My inspiration comes from those that do bad things towards me in various ways, haters etc. I also take inspiration from Outkast, Tupac, Nas and a variety of other modern day rap legends.

MY band hardly ever write lyrics. What sorta thing works for inspiration. writing songs about girls or stupid stuff is totally easy but thats not really us.

I've been writing songs for about three years and i have around 60 so far. Inspiration comes from everywhere. A large percentage of my songs are about relationships but there's also ones wich go way deeper, like songs about death and ones about some very personal shit i've been through. It's my way of releasing myself and expressing my emotions, i love writing lyrics. When i feel inspired by something it's pretty easy to write and the song just flows.

I wirte lyrics quite often know aswell well as song writing fro my band, i dont erally have inspiration apart from strong feelings ( and if ur reading bob aoas Not emo stereotype feelings
). I can post lyrics wat i wrote earlier, i like to show how i feel.. pretty simple stuff but ill show ya , and if anyone is sad enough(bored) to read it , well here ya go..Dream. Slowly crawlings through these dark alleyways,Rope tied and shackles on my feet, the ropes Are wearing, ready to crash through these thick rusty bars. That tiny thin whole, leads clear pathways, a dream everyone wants yet so hard to meet. Only room for one ill find away oneday. voice dry, sweating blood I will never give up my dream that i live for, would you? Delaying time is not an option, harsh words come to often, destroyed memories that should have been kept, theres no time to reminisce, got to perform and do whats to be done. Destroyed memories No time to look back We all will meet again.... |

i write lyrics almost everyday, i hav probably over 200 sets (full or otherwise) at least 95% of them well never be used and i dont like, my particular favourite line at the moment is:
Ice Cave Internal White turns to black As the hungry pupil snaps open Lusting for light and life Against the white background That constricts the body to mind Red jewels splashed over thoughts Hiding reality from deluded eyes Until the black falls into white The glass is glazed open Staring up at the sky waiting for angels To come and release the light As the black claws up the roots The white falls from the heavens Landing on nothing, touching everything And covering up the past As the lost soul sleeps on they aint really lyrics yet and they dont ryhme or anything - but if u want someof my band ones then "the classic" oracle this bleak oracle of hope is the only way i cope in this world of lies and tales in which truth always fails ![]() |

i think lyrics like those rely on the delivery. if the singer doesnt put everything into it then it just comes across as wank,
im more into things i can relate to. i like storys and word plays and it should always have a sense of humour and seem really spontanious. i write stuff all the time but i dont sing and i certainly wouldnt call it poetry or anything. i think the best way to write is just to totally open up your head and let it flow, even if it seems really obvious or embarresing you can draft it out later, but once you have absolutly everything out of your head then its all their in front of you and you can relax a bit and mould it into something, but too much effort and making every line perfect can kill a song. if you are going to write highly emotional lyrics then they should be done quickly, it has to sum up a single moment of intense emotion, then it will mean a lot more to you. |

When I write lyrics it'll happen one of two ways. I'll either be walking home at night or something and a melody and some lyrics (lets say a line) will hit me. When i get home I'll try and write more for that melody (chorus or a verse) and then some slightly different ones to fill up the rest of the song. OR I'll be sitting with my bass playing a progression for a song we've written trying to come up with something for it. Personally I prefer the first way It's more natural and the quality of the lyrics and the melody are better. But seeing as i don't sing it doesn't really matter as long as the lyrics are good.

my main inspiration is my perception on my life and this world, personal triumphs and defeats, the wool pulled over our eyes buy the mass media and the fight against corporate globalisation, rascism, opression and social awareness. i know ppl will always write songs about "girls" but if your gonna do this, all i ask is please give it a bit of depth and meaning. it makes it more of a challenge for you, and more of a challege to the listener. and dont rip anybody off! , if you are a writer, then write. there are a lot of words you can use, so dont use someone elses. and yes, deliver them with passion, i could`nt sing a song if the words in it didnt truly affect me. most of our songs leave me in quite a state, and thats the way it should be |
