Acoustic Songs
I'm gonna be doing a few acoustic nights at a local pub so I can get free drink. The thing is I'm unsure of what to do. I don't like doing the usual songs that everyone tends to do, but I like doing songs that people can get into and enjoy.
So far my set is gonna be Crashland - Submission Paul Simon - You can call me all Levellers - Sell Out The Vines/Outkast - Miss. Jackson Simon & Garfunkel - Mrs. Robinson I was wondering what else might be a good idea to do, guitarists may notice that those songs are all pretty basic, but thats cos I'm not a very advanced guitarist. So interesting simple songs that aren't always done but will get people going. any ideas? |

Damien Rice - The Professor
Radiohead - High and Dry Doves - The Man Who Told Everything (oh how i wish i could sing, i would sing this all day long. forever) The classical piece called Romance D'amour, just to show off but it's dead easy really! |

Depends on what kind of singer you are but an acoustic version of 'Brick' by Ben Folds Five sounds really good. Or for an upbeat song you could do 'Again I Go Unnoticed' by Dashboard Confessional - easy but you can easily funkify it by changing the tuning.

this is slightly on topic
but there was this acoustic band in the nether inn on saturday afternoon, and they were exceptionally gash. For starters, the guy sounded like an asthmatic Liam Gallacher. Secondly, the guitar amp was beside my fucking head. Thirdly, the guitar was out of tune - I really felt like walking up and saying: LOOK THE FUCKING B AND e STRINGS ARE OUT OF TUNE YOU BLOODY MORON - IT SOUNDS AWFUL. It's worrying to think that such pathetic bands actually get gigs. |
