The UGS Music Wiki
We're pleased to announce the first phase of the wiki roll out. We've been working on creating a music encyclopedia that our users and new members to the site can use to provide information as well as using it as a resource for everything related to independent music and the culture(s) that surround it. The main purpose of this wiki is to try and create a central bank of information, a knowledge base, relating to Scotland and the rest of the UK's unsigned and independent music scene(s). Covering everything from local bands and venues to information about equipment manufacturers and getting your music out there. Practically every region, city and town has a website dedicated to it's local music scene, but no central directory to connect those together. That is the aim of this wiki; to bring together those communities and create a resource that can be used by them all and open up more avenues for them outside of their locales. It also provides an opportunity for users to catalogue their experiences in the independent music scene We welcome contributions from everyone involved in local music, independent music, promotion, online music communities and youth culture across the UK and all visitors are encouraged to contribute any knowledge they have on any music and culture related topic. Basically the Wiki is open to all, registered members on the site can contribute information as well as modify existing innacruracies that they might find on it. Guests to UGS can use the wiki but cannot modify or contribute information to it but if there is something that you would like to add then please register with the site and all facilities will be open to you. If there is any comments, feedback or suggestions that you'd like to give us then please feel free to leave them in our feedback forum. NOTE: Existing members should note that if your username has spaces or special characters in it then you probably wont be able to log into the wiki unless you register a new account or request that your existing username be changed to one without spaces and special characters. Cheers.

The type of things we'd really like to see on the wiki are 'how to' guides, guides to cities etc, informative articles, tutorials, profiles of bands, venues , labels , promoters etc. Profiles of magazines etc etc. Anything and everything relating to unsigned or independent music.

Absolutely. That's the sort of thing we'd like to encourage.
