Sony had one before Nintendo (just and in a very small run) but Atari had one first.

Immersion also had a shock controller before them

hmmm, well I found this account to be more compelling. In terms of direct impact and influence on the industry.

The size and shape of a Gamecube controller's pretty similar to a PlayStation one, isn't it?! And I'm sure it doesn't have any more buttons. The only controller I've not liked that much was the XBox's, it was pretty chunky and awkward as a newcomer anyway...

Having said before that there was a glimmer of hope for me and Zelda, well, no, it's going downhill

Personally I found the gamecube controller really annoying, but I think the wii-mote is a great idea, and it worked really well when I tried it.

Also, as said, the chunky Xbox controller hasn't been the standard controller for years now (at least 3 or 4 years ago now, I think). It was replaced with the smaller version originally made for the Japanese market.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control...ovable_storage

Personally I found the original Xbox controller to be just as usable as the smaller version, but I have massive hands!

360 controlllers are nice, apart from the awful r1 and l1 buttons, they feel incredibly awkward!

Yeah, they took a bit of getting used to for me, because I used to use my index fingers on the triggers on the original Xbox.

I find the best way for me is to use my index fingers on the bumpers, and use my middle fingers on the triggers. That can get painful after a while though.

When you consider the alternative, of having the black and white buttons on the original Xbox controller, which were a total cunt to reach, I prefer it this way.
