my tsb card has solo or switch and i managed to get it, i went for the HL2 silver pack i think, this gives you Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Deathmatch (the online multiplayer side of HL2), Counter Strike Source and Day of Defeat Source. you also get a bastard load of special shit like Half-Life 1 converted with the source engine and odds and ends for half-life like the lost coast level.
totally worth every penny, HL2 is the best pc game ever, the deathmatch lets you throw radiators, paint tins, chairs etc at people with a gravity gun to kill them aswell as a tonne of deathmatch weapons, CS is awesome, DoD is gorgeous WWII loveliness and worth every one of my 34 quid or whatever it's dollar translated too. the only higher pack was platinum but that only adds a valve T-shirt and a mousemat :/ on the subject of cs_militia and lag, this is the first map to be realeased to utilise the High Definition Range, or HDR technology of uberfast PCI-Express cards, so i recommend that anyone with less than the highest 9800XT 256MB super radeon bitchcard disable HDR completely in there video options on all source games. the whole reason the half-life 2 special game lost-coast was even developed was to give players a look at HDR effects at first glance. HDR basically goes against the physics technology that lighting has been using for the past few years and requires it's own arseload of processing power to generate. it's effects include dark/light transitions such as when your eyes adjust to a darkened area or haze a little when leaving one to go into brightness, the strange effect light has when shining through tiny gaps making the light on the other side seem about 3,000,000watts when it's just a dull day on the other side of the wall. basically HDR is another step in the game-to-reality path that technology is taking and although it munches on my system like a bastard loading lost coast with full hdr on really does look like some little fishing hamlet rather than a level for a game. I'm a pedant so I'll point out that HDR in Source games stands for High Dynamic Range. :P
but yeah, this basically lets your monitor pretend to represent a lot higher range in brightness than it actually can. But it's a beast on your hardware. |

Switch is no longer. it has changed to maestro. Anyone with a bank card that has a switch symbol on it will have it replaced by maestro when they get a new card.
You do get Visa debit cards. My other half has one on her halifax bank card. I might just try a transaction with my Switch/maestro and see what happens. |
