Doesn't say there that you need HL2 on Amazon.

there are two boxes available. One comes with everything included and the other one is stripped of a few of the extras. I'm fairly sure HL2 is required to run the addons like Counter Strike : Source.

I'm fairly sure they are doing packs that are just you basic mod-on the-run packs. I seem to remember them selling them in Game.

you do need HL2 mate, cause that's the source engine. you'll notice when you play CSS that it's .exe is "hl2.exe"

I wouldn't risk buying it on it's own, just buy the box set for about £30. best cash i've ever spent on a game.

and Weeg, NOT RAVENHOLM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but don't ruin it for Col!

if you buy hl2 at even the cheapest level you still get deathmatch so i don't know why it'd be in a pack that is an addon for half-life 2. also Day of Defeat comes with only the top 2 half-life 2 single player packages so this pack col has found sounds like a multiplayer standalone pack, if it doesn't say that it requires hl2 then i'd snap it up in a shot as dod is even more fun than cs (well coming from someone who played tfc for 3 years and then cs for 3, i think this is my tri-annual day of defeat phase.)

and you don't need half-life 2 to run anything by source as the engine installs the source_shared.grf cabinet in your steamapps folder at a collosal 1.4gb and then depending on what you use the engine for it installs the game, a mod, the sdk, etc. granted on mine it said that HL2 was required to play deathmatch but i think that's cos i bought hl2, after i completed the game i deleted it's subfolder and then i deleted the half-life_2.grf file which was about 1gb and deathmatch and all the other online games work fine with half-life 2 nuked, i imagine if Col's pack is a standalone then it just installs the source cabinet and then what mods come with it.

Rob, how can you play DoD: S? the recoil is unbelievably bad, it goes up, but doesnt come down! I've not actually played it online though, cos I'm at uni so cant connect to remote servers at all

Also, that hitbox movie... there were hitbox issues before, but now I'm pretty sure they're fixed. BUT... parts of that movie looks faked to me, 20secs in, he's running through the garage looking at 1 bot, with the hitbox on, but in the background there's another guy jumping on crates and he doesnt have a hitbox.

Yeah, I was pretty sure CS:S would run standalone. I don't want to get HL2 as I have already played and completed it and doubt I will play it again.

I'm bidding on a copy of CS:S on ebay!
