Both can be achieved simultaneously with Wolfenstein 3D :P

I downloaded a many several gigs torrent a while back with hundreds of the best DOS games around, many were amiga games that would have been more popular on the amiga given the PC's lack of Windows and shit looking non-interlaced display of 320x200. The best of which (Syndicate, Superfrog, Chaos Engine, etc) I still play via WinUAE the Amiga emulator.

But, I have been trying to get DOS running on Windows, DOSBox is a nightmare since you need atleast a 2Ghz PC to emulate a 486 efficiently (how does that work?) so I instead use Virtual PC which is now free from Microsoft and allows you to create virtual systems from within your own. I have a DOS machine and a Windows 95 machine set up but despite my extensive knowledge of MSDOS 6.22 (the best) I still can't get most games to run due to the hi-mem problem that DOS gamers faced when trying to run a DOS game. DOS had a real problem in that despite your system's RAM you only had 640K of initial RAM to execute programs and your mouse and CD drivers would drop that to below 500K making most games give you an "out of memory" error.

A small rant, but I wish I had the knowledge I had 12 years ago that somehow allowed me to play Descent and Duke Nukem 3D via DOS.

Point and Click

At the moment I am playing through lots of point and click games from my childhood. I am using scummvm, the emulator for that type of thing but will probably need to figure out a dos emulator if I wanna play the more advanced ones. Have so far completed Day Of The Tentacle and Monkey Island. Playing Sam and Max now, really really good.

I might just have a shot at getting some of those running next week. Aside from Football / Champ manager there's no games I've loved as much as the old ones from when I was young. I hope GTA is as good as I remember... still think of it as my all time favourite.
