Red Alert 2 was been a constant source of misery for me a while back by refusing not to crash during the in mission FMV sequences in the minimap HUD region.

It worked fine on my last machine (which was really frickin' old) but on my current one it just fails spectacularly, crashing at a different point in the movie each run. This is a legit copy by the way.

I'm running XP with an ancient Radeon 9800pro. Rubbish.

should be fine on XP if you get it from the Decade pack scott - but I think if you've got the original CD it can be a pain. I could test them all in Vista next week for you but I'm at my parents' till friday.

Just buy C&C3 and that'll keep you going for a while - will work on vista.

for me, DX10.

but if you're getting a new PC and it's a fairly decent spec, we're soon going to be at the point where you really should be getting vista with it instead of XP.

I say we're nearly there, that's not Microsoft's fault but a lot of the hardware companies haven't got their drivers working perfectly yet. Personally I haven't had any problems though.

Some software will also refuse to work and some will work with a few niggles. But again, I don't think I've had mant problems.

it's also much more secure and looks pretty if you're into that kind of thing.

haha, good luck. That brand sucks. All the games I have ever got from sold out I have never been able to complete because they all have glitches in them!

argh great surely patches would be available to download though wouildn't they? and I have a fairly decent video and sound card so I'd doubt it crash miserably on the cinematic scenes in the game

It is the actual game that is the problem. I hope it works for you though!

You misunderstand; the game ran on my old machine (I don't recall the precise specs, but it was onboard graphics and sound) and crashes during cinematic sequences on my current machine which uses a Radeon 9800 (old but plays source well on high settings and oblivion fine on mid settings).

seems to work fine on vista without any problems, only thing is sometimes the game stops for a couple of seconds during the footage that gets played in your in game right menu screen but apart from that the game runs great. Couldn't remember how good command and conquer games acctually were. Has anyone played Generals and tiberian sun? Just to get a rough idea whether the decade pack would be a worthwhile purchase or not?

I found Generals a bit rubbish, but I prefer the visceral speed of oldskool 2D C&C where you can make an army in like 40 seconds, and I found that with the Generals control system it was a bit of a hassle selecting lots of units at once (i.e., actually playing C&C).

Tiberium wars uses the same engine as the original game doesn't it? I seen screen shots of it and thw two games looks pretty similar visually?

Tiberium Wars is brand spanking new. It uses a highly modified version of the SAGE engine used for Generals & Zero Hour.
