Post yr Gaming Rig

Didn't search, but couldn't find a thread discussing your machine spec. Just bought a new machine today, as my current one is limping like crazy. Justnow I have a P4 3GHz 512 DDR w/ Radeon 9800 pro - as such, can play games from around the HL2/Source era at about 40fps medium graphics.

Tried playing Oblivion a while ago and got about 2 seconds per frame when outside the dungeon at the start and considered getting a new one. Been enviously regarding people with machines that can play Supreme Commander so have decided to take the plunge;
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 2.40GHz Dual Core CPU Overclocked to 2.93GHz (9 x 333MHz - 1333MHz FSB)
  • MoBo: Intel 975X (Socket LGA775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
  • Memory: 2GB Cellshock Ultra PC2-6400 CAS4 DDR2 (Overclocked at 900MHz)
  • GPU: NVIDIA 8800 GTX 768MB
  • Storage: 500GB Western Digital 16MB Cache SATA-2 Hard Drive
  • Case: Antec 900 ATX
  • PSU: BFG 1000W PSU

Some Arctic Cooler Freezers in there too. Running Vista premium. Please do not hesitate to post your current rigs, what kind of performance you get from latest games, etc.

just noticed this here thread, My PC's getting pretty old but here's the spec:
  • CPU: AMD X2 3800+ @ 4200+
  • MoBo: Asus K8N-E (S939)
  • Memory: 2GB Corsair 400MHz DDR3200 (2-2-2-6)
  • GPU: Sapphire Radeon X1800XT 512MB
  • Sound: Creative X-FI Fatal1ty FPS
  • Storage: 2x 36GB WDRaptors (RAID0), Maxtor storage drives 300GB + 250GB + 80GB
  • Case: Coolermaster Centurion 5
  • PSU: Tagan 480W Silent
  • Monitor: Viewsonic VX2025wm, VP171s
crappy phone photo:

Running Vista HP. I can run most games I've tried still but not with the eye candy turned up full - played STALKER, SupCom, C&C3 no problems. Can turn everything up full on things like Far Cry, HL2 and can turn things up a fair bit on Oblivion too.

That's a pretty beefy PC you got Scott, hope you're not getting to many driver problems with vista. Also, what monitor are you playing on? I'm tempted to get a Dell2407 this summer - finally make my PS3 properly nextgen too.

No driver problems with Vista as yet, it's pretty kickin'. Everything up full in CSS/HL2/Farcry with no problems, does the HL2 "tour" benchmark with everything up at ~220fps. Monitor is some generic 17" LCD, I don't even know what brand it is (probably none).

I would've considered myself to be at least semi-educated in the ways of computer hardware 5 or so years ago. Now I really don't have a scooby doo about any of the hardware that people have posted up.

I don't play that many games anymore, but this machine runs games like CS:S, Oblivion etc alright. I'm not putting up the specs because people will probably laugh.

I'm not going to get into a Mac/PC debate.

I play all my games on my Wii.

Col, you don't have a S939 and DDR2 ram, you do have a lovely case and monitor though

Edit: I was just looking to see if your monitor was a 24" or 30" and realised I've only bought a CPU, Monitor, Speakers and Soundcard since Jan 06. I actually have less ram too (1 stick failed and I haven't got round to sending it back yet).

You are correct. i've forgot i shifted stuff about between my two PC's!

the mobo in that is a MSI K9N Neo-F nForce 550

and the ram is 4GB of DDR 3200

I moved the DDR2 ram and mobo into my other PC to replace an ancient Asus A7n8x and 1gb of SDRAM The other machine has my X1800 in it and so is a decent gaming machine as well.

the Antec P180 is a top notch case. having the PSU at the bottom and sectioned off is great. Its pretty much silent too.

and as for my monitor, its ma baby
