monitors.

just a quick question, are pc games these days mostly rendered at a 16x10 resolution?

when i was looking for a tv for my 360, i was trying to find a 16x9 to match the 360's native 720p output.

now i'm looking for a new pc, and a new monitor along with it, but every one i see is 16x10, so i'm just checking this is normal and it won't be stretching all the games i play?

I thought "normal" for a PC was 4 x 3, with various widescreen formats in the minority but becoming more popular.

actually, "normal" used to be 5:4, you only really get 4:3 on 20" monitors these days, and anything bigger than 20" tends to be widescreen 16:10

And yes, almost all new games will go to any resolution up to your monitors maximum if you have the right drivers installed.

Drivers

I know NVidia are very good these days with their drivers (and I assume ATi aren't bad either). The computer at my work runs Vista x64 and handles my 3200 x 1200 desktop nicely. I don't do any 3D stuff on my Linux PC at home but it's nice to know if I wanted to I could get the driver
