Ancient history....
I've started going through tapes of bands I've been in over the last 20 years and thought it might be interesting to share....
In 1996 I was in Kosmische, a Birmingham based guitar band featuring Andy Grewcock on guitar and vocals, Nick Helliar on bass, Mike Cracroft on drums and myself on guitar and vocals. The song writing was shared between myself and Andy, with the whole band doing the arrangements. The lead vocals were also shared between Andy and I. We recorded three cassettes of stuff, with this one 'White Noise to a Disco Beat' being the final before I moved to Dundee. MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service We recorded this on a Tascam 424 mk 1 and it was mastered to chrome cassette so there is a little bit of tape wobble and hiss, which is to be expected with something that's been sitting around for 12 years! I ran a tiny amount of eq on it to lower the really high hiss so it's slightly better than the tape. It's very very different from what I do now, and I'd be interested in what people think. |

I should mention that we played once in Dundee, during a three date mini tour of Scotland (we also played the original 13th Note, and the Attic in Edinburgh) when we crammed into the pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-remodelled Drouthy Neebors with Moma and a band I can't remember the name of. I do remember that the gig was pretty busy though (though the old Drouthies basement was laid out in such a way that 3 people in the room would make it busy!)

Download thing won't work for me. Can you make it a lot easier for me and make a Myspace instead?

They're working ok for me. Sounded like a pretty tight band although it's a shame about the tape 'warble'.

Yeah, the tape warble is a bit of a pain, but I don't know much I can do about it. The live tape didn't have so much.

Going to be going right back to the band I was in when I was 17 with these uploads!
Things to 'look forward' to - Superman Wallpaper - my first band, sounded like the Wonder Stuff fighting Ned's Atomic Dustbin! Sandhopper - almost a Dinosaur Jnr tribute act! Maps Of Jupiter - the first of my bands to ever get a record deal! and many many others!! |
