Silibil and Brains
The Reading Rooms, Dundee
October 24th

Silibil and Brains destroyed virtualy every doubt of their talent, in my head, tonight, when they played probably the most entertaining gig i've been to all year. Despite the poor promotion on the venue's part, the crowd was modest, but they were treated to some of the best underground unsigned rap i've heard in the area. Think of Eminem crossed with OBD. Think of Necro crossed with De La Soul. Grimey and comical but well produced and executed.

Unphased by the poor turnout, the two entertained and tried their best to make the most of an unfortunate situation. Having been allowed to go on, by the reluctant Aberdonians who put on the night, they ripped up the stage. They blessed the crowd with comedy, rhyming skills and technicality rivaled only by, well, no one really. Going on before the two blokes for Aberdeen (forgive my ignorance, but i didnt catch their names), they showed em up. Delivering without error, completely seemless tracks, bar after bar without a breath in between.

Brains fast rhyme style complemented by Silibil's, at times, booming voice, the two connected together brilliantly. Despite a shorter than usual set, we left the Reading Rooms hoping for another display from them in the very near future. They are currently in the process of finishing their latest CD and looking for more possible gigs around the country. Its no wonder the two are attracting the record interest that they are, and its only a matter of time before they are snapped up.

These guys are definately worth watching. It doesnt matter what genre or style of music you play, the fact that these guys delivered professionally while maintaining the enthusiasm of the audience, there is a lot to learn from these two, and the sooner people do, the better the music in the area is going to get, and believe me, the benchmark has now been set.
