Fingathing, Reading Rooms, Dundee. 24 May 2004
Bloody hell. I'd never heard of these guys before but damn they were good. Prior to the night i'd been told about em to a certain extent but didnt really know what to expect. The electric bass and the decks worked amazingly well and no wonder they have the following they have. Believe it or not this was my first proper hip hop gig and what a blinder; especially seeing as it was in Dundee. The RR pulled of a major coup when they got the guys to play.
The played some of their older tracks as well as a couple from the new album "FINGATHING AND THE BIG RED NEBULA BAND". I tried to get it the day after but everywhere was sold out!
The RR was packed for this night, and the first 3 or 4 tracks were off the hook. In your face beats; i was totally loving it. The set got a bit softer as the night moved on but it was all good. What stood out most was their appreciation for the love the crowd was showing, always a nice thing to see coming from the performers.
I wish they could have played all night but they must have been knackered, plenty of energy, lots of love for the crowd and some amazing technical skills were on show by the pair.
If fingathing are playing in a joint near you, you shouldnt really have an excuse not to go see em.
