Not being a big GC fan did kind of make me think that I shouldn't write a review on their new album, but then I thought 'who better to do one as I’m not a big fan' and I can give a more accurate opinion of their latest piece of work, without being biase.

A follow up to 'The young and the Hopeless', this new album had a fair bit to live up to, if you liked the previous album(s), but to me they have made a fairly good album here, with songs like- 'Predictable' (which only charted about 7th when released), 'The Chronicles Of Life and Death' and 'Ghost of you'.

The album comes in two versions, you can get the basic one with the bare minimum of songs, or you can get the edition with two extra songs- 'In this world' and 'Meet my maker' (as seen above on the track listing). Not being a fan of the GC boys does have its advantages when it comes to this particular piece of work. When I first popped the CD in the computer, I was amazed with how the song structures have changed (you may not agree), but I feel the boys have put more feeling into these songs, more effort, more life. With the last album however it was more like, 'look at us, we're famous, we have lots of money, aren't we great' and it seemed as if they weren't trying very hard. Now with their new found writing ability, they also found that you don't have to put a complex guitar track to a song or a bass track that will make any ordinary mans fingers fall off, but they slowed down a bit, took more time (brewed it longer, for a fuller taste) and I think it has worked.

Many people may not agree with me on this one, but this is only my opinion and if some of it doesn't make sense, sorry, it did in my head. If anyone else would like to put a review of this album up, I would love to see what everyone else thinks.

Cheers.

Just to remind everyone this forum is for REVIEWS. If you don't like a band and all you can contribute is 'HURR GC ARE SHIT' then don't bother posting. If anyone wants to comment on the review or post their own proper review, then feel free, but this shit stops now.
