This album had been pushed back a few weeks before it was released. When it finally came out it was embraced by the hip hop community across the globe, but would it live up to the hype.

The first track, A Message to the Feds is a weak start to the album, Illmatic and Gods Son had awsome intro tracks; NY State of Mind and Get Down, respectively gave the listener an insight into what they could expect from the rest of the disc... i hoped this was just a blip in the playlist. His flow and the energy behind it is weak.

Nazareth Savage steps up the pace a little. It reminds me of Made You Look from the Gods Son album but with a softer spookier feel. His delivery is constant and strong.

The American Way is one of those political tracks, talking about the failings of the American voting system how the politicians encouraged black artists to promote the idea of democracy and the ability to vote to the black youth but then having it thrown back in their faces when the black vote is ignored. The beat is tired and the flow is a bit shit to be honest. Its just not coming on strong and i cant get into it, Kelis guesting on a track like this doesnt help much either.

The next track is These Are Our Heroes. Black figures in sport etc not living up to being role models. Having the youth look up to them and then turning around and doing something stupid. Its a good track, its got a happy sorta beat to it but the message is loud and clear.

Disciple, i think the Cd's flagship track is next... and? *skip*

I'm not really feeling this CD at all right now but i'm hoping the Nas of old is gonna come back and slap me across my face.

Then we have Live Now, one of these moral story tracks thats come to feature on every hip hop album released over the past 30000 years. Rest of my Life, whack! i'm already getting bored this is depressing, wtf happened dude?!

I cant be bothered with the rest of CD1 and i slap CD2 in. I can always come back to disc one when time allows. So disc 2 goes in and i have my fingers crossed that at least this was gonna impress me.

Hmm the first track on the second disc is Suicide Bounce, and its not bad at all. Maybe its because he's got Busta Rhymes on the track and it kind lifts Nas out of his slumber to actually wake up and use the mic for its intended purpose. Its good.

Streets Disciple is next, and ok, Disciple on the first CD obviously wasnt the title track so lets hope this one does the name justice.... but it doesnt. His delivery is on point but i'm not feeling the beat at all.

I give up.

I've always been a fan of Nas having got most of his discs, but this is one i wanna take back if i could. I feel bad about writing this review and having it come out the way it did but its shite and i wouldn't write a bullshit review just to make it sound better than it is.

If you want to buy a new Nas album, wait a few years till someone disses his family or something or makes him damn angry and then buy the next one, cos he only seems to perform when he's in competition against someone.

I'm out.
