Chroma Keyer - Reawakening

Chroma Keyer - Reawakening

1. Intro
2. Reawakening
3. Lossenballion
4. Divided
5. MPH
6. Avarice

First off i hate freaky intro's, cos they're just that, freaky. This isn't overly freaky, but it freaks me out, for some reason. Ok? Good, i can get passed that though.

After i've got my mind back the first thing that hits me about Reawakening, the flagship track, is that it reminds me of Duke Nukem. I dunno, its the first thing that came into my head when i bgan to listen. Its something about the attitude or the aggressiveness of the music that gets me into that type of imagery, kinda Carmageddon-esque. I like it. I'm pretty much just hip hop and rap and all that but this is something i can easily listen to. Its not crazily heavy but at the same time its not a pansy-ass tune. I'll be playing this a fair bit tonight.

The one thing about starting off on a high like that is the next track has to continue to fuel the testosterone... it doesn't. What's this choir boy stuff? Where is my beer and fag fueled rough vocals? It's hard to imagine that the vocals on the previous track, and Lossenballion are done by the same singer; Downie. Oh wait... the track just flipped upside its own head! two thirds of the way in someone finally shoves a boot up Downies ass and its back to where we were!

Now we're onto Divided, track 4. Starts of with a little guitar solo / intro type thing, its got a quicker beat to it than the previous two IMO. Downies ability to flip back and forth between smooth vocals and rough and rugged scream/shouts works pretty well in this track.

MHP is the next track, its got a tribal feel to it with the drum solo intro; cuts out and then the guitar comes into play... wham bam thank you ma'am! Its fast for a long 5min 15sec track and its all screaming and shouting vocals... i love it. Half way through all goes calm, what are they making me wait for? The production by the way is excellent, on all the tracks i've listened to so far. It picks up again, not as heavy hitting as the first half but its a little more sedate. I like it, its a good mix and it works well.

The CD finishes off with Avarice. A decent track that seems to sum up the whole effort in a polished manner. Although the CD itself lacks variety, i dont know how much more you could ask from a relatively new band on the scene in Dundee. Too many bands rush into producing and spitting out their first CD without actually thinking of the implications. This effort through is bound to send out all the right signals wherever it goes.

Good effort guys.
