9. If You Love Me I might Hate You Less

Borg 64 is a shit name. Lets not beat around the bush here; it really is a crap name. Not as bad as Bumsnogger or Rumplestiltskin Grinder mind, but its still crap.

Thankfully, the music is of much better standards. The closest I can come to describing the music is electronic punk, or cyberpunk, if you will. It’s a bit of crap genre name but it suits Borg 64 down to a tee. They play punk music that has been given a kick in the arse and also a cybernetic makeover. With no drummer, they rely on drum programming and also use synth/keyboards in addition to guitars. The vocals are heavily distorted which makes it hard to make out the lyrics. Luckily for me, the CD comes with lyrics in the inlay! The song titles remind me of Drowningman...
Borg 64 doesn’t just target one thing or one issue in their songs. Track 8 for example, apart from having a very long name, is a swipe at Christianity whereas Cyberpunk Is Dead (Track 4) is a rant based on the industrial metal scene from the pissed off perspective of the writer. Maybe he got kicked out of a trendy club and went home and wrote a song about it? We may never know.

With only 9 tracks on offer and a running length of 35 minutes I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t more. If you can, download “Stockholm Must Die” as this is a brilliant indication of what the rest of the album sounds like.

If you can imagine Alec Empire remixing Refused and adding his own vocals over the top of it, you’re on the right tracks to what Bog 64 sound like.

The website allows you to download their previous release “Exit Wounds” as well as a few tracks from this album. It also gives you lyrics. They must know that no-one can make out what they are saying...
