I'm liking the No Kilter 4 track EP which was recently sent to me for the purposes of this review. It's a very fast and energetic effort with good variety between the four tracks we've been gifted.
Sleep120 is a fast electrically charged track with loud screaming vocals. Lost Wavelength is slightly kinder on the ears. Save you Saviour starts off with a great bass guitar solo... it's largely an instrumental track and the EP finishes with This is the Part and right the way through each of the tracks never let up in the pace nor energy the band exude. The vocals are passionate, the instruments are played with tremendous ability. I was particularly impressed with the drumming but it's hard to single out any one member of this West Coast 4 piece. I've heard reports that the band are not as good live as they are recorded but i'm sure if they continue the hard work they are putting into releasing material like this they'll be onto a good thing. I missed their Dundee gig in January when they played with Avast!, Titus Gein and Jesus Enterprise but from what I heard they were anything but great.
No Kilter are...

No Kilter formed in late spring, 2005. It was clear from the first jam session together that the band were definitely on to something good.
Ever since the band have been writing and gigging constantly building up a fan base within the Glasgow area. No Kilter set up their very first gig their selves and has since had headlining shows in some prestigious venues in Glasgow such as Nice ‘n’ Sleazy and 13th note café.
No Kilter has recently recorded a demo with Chris Gordon of Union of Knives (Dead Fly Buchowski, Orko, Terra Diablo) and have had some very good feedback about the recording.
No Kilter has had some attention from the media and has been described as “math-punk” by The List and the 13th note magazine also had this to say about the band:
“Its Fast, loud and unencumbered by the strait jacket of 4/4 timing….an exciting blend of economico-political awareness & frenetic audio-visual activity.”
The future looks exciting for No Kilter with constant positive feedback on the bands myspace web page, a gig in Glasgow’s 13th note café on October the 17th with more gigs to be arranged, there seems to be no stopping No Kilter at the moment.
