Acid Tongue - 'Anniversary'

Acid Tongue are a kick-ass 4-piece female fronted punk band from Fife, in the vein of The Exploited, Threats and the best in UK’82-style punk. ‘Anniversary’ is their second record and what we get is seven tracks of hard and fast militant old school raw punk rock.

The songs are direct, socially aware and unapologetically rowdy. ‘Fuck Guns’ is a fine example of their riotous call-to arms approach. ‘Profit of The Shameless’ slows the pace down a little with some dirty ska beats, addressing the abusive prescription of anti-depressants as a means of making money. This is short and direct as this kind of punk should be.

A riot live and having headlined the first night of this years GGI fest in Edinburgh, things are going well for Acid Tongue. If you don’t like angry old school punk, you won’t be converted, but if you like it fast, down and nasty, this EP is for you. It’s good stuff and well worth checking out when they roll into town.
