Tragical History Tour
The Tragical History Tour is Derrick Johnston. A Tragical History Tour is 4 beautiful acoustic tracks featuring a mix of rough and smooth vocal work. Each of the 4 tracks holds enough variation but yet maintain a constant level of technical competence and imagery in the vocals.
The first track, Talk About the Weather, is an upbeat positive piece with enchanting strings providing the atmosphere for Derrick to lay down the vocals... Leave all your fears behind, they're all irrational.
Pretty Girl Dream was my favourite track on this CD. Derrick's story telling is great and thought provoking, his message, and his vocals, are clear.
Wasted Getaway is the third track on the CD. A Miss S. Murdoch provides the backing vocals on this one and it works so well. The effect had the hair on my neck standing on edge. Not in the scared as hell way but in the warm fuzzy lovey-dovey way.
Pretty Girl Reprise is the final track odd one out of the 4. It has a completely different sound to the previous three. The guitar is grungier, we've got drums providing the support. The vocals are louder and slightly more aggressive. It is my least favourite track because of the difference with the rest but has a nice surprise at the end.
Overall a very good effort and something refreshing.
