Akala - Its not a rumour

Akala is one of the freshest new talents on the UK hip hop scene and this outing is one of the best UK rap albums i've heard in a long time.

The album is a good mix of varying styles. As I like my music more aggressive i'll focus on the more 'in your face' tracks first. Joints like Yeah Yeah Yeah, Shakespeare and This is London are definate adverts for this guys talent. Shakespeare being the flagship track on the album with Roll Wid Us coming a close second. Shakespeare and Roll Wid Us are my favourite tracks mainly due to the smooth delivery Akala spits his rhymes and the production of the beats he rhymes too. There are already a few remixes doing the rounds of Roll Wid Us from various other UK emcees but none do the original justice.

Akala's sister, Ms Dynamite also makes a guest appearance on Why Do, one of the more sober tracks on the CD. Carried Away is another one that excels.

This is a good start for anyone looking to get into the UK hip hop and grime scene and it'll long outlive some of the US commercial hip hop that has been coming out over the past 5 years. It's out now on Illastate Records.

Aye man, i remember we were talking about him. I think i've almost played Shakespeare to death now but it just keeps going and going. Yeah Yeah Yeah is another track that i've almost murdered through over play.
