Sway - This is my Demo
This is a decent outing for Sway. It's his debut album even though he's already been known for his mixtapes that have been on the circuit for a while. I got this one around the same time that I copped Akala's latest joint and both put a lot of faith back in my mind that the UK hip hop and grime scene is healthy and strong. It's also another slap in the face of US commercial hip hop that seems to be dying a slow death right now.
Stand out tracks for me are This is my Demo, Hype Boys, Download and Back for You. They also happen to be the more aggressive sounding of the 14 tracks on the album, which include the two bonus tracks (Slo Down and Month in the Summer) put in at the end.
All the tracks on the album tell a different story.. some good some bad. The one track that disturbs me on this album is Pretty Ugly Husband which illustrates the horrors of domestic abuse.
There are some comical skits on the album too which break up the tracks nicely. This is one to catch.
