Here some info about M I LOKI
There are 2 of us, Ian Stanley (aka Mono) and Matt Scott that make up M.I. Loki. We're based up in the heady, band infested den of speed garage and no good clubs that is Sheffield and we make beats, breaks, and bass.

Meeting on a hazy night in 1995, at Wild Times in Cambridge, it wasn't until 2005 and a move to Sheffield that we began making tracks together. It began with a bootleg of Come Together by the Beatles, and continued with a joint love for sampling Zoolander, mini guns, Bill Duke and all things Chevy Chase. Some may say our music has never really evolved from there, but they probably listen to electro trash music and wear skinny jeans.

Having experimented with hip hop, house, DnB, and whatever else that we could place a beat underneath, it became apparent that the laws of breakbeat, or rather the lack of them, would allow us to bring all of our musical tastes to one table. Influenced more by the early days of the "breaks" genre where breakbeats were alive and reigned supreme, it took us by surprise to find much of the current crop of music quite rigid in both formula and sounds.

As a result of this swing within the scene away from where we wanted to take our music, we set up Tricksta Recordings in May 2006. Since then we have developed and evolved our sound into what we have coined "Organic Breaks", that is "back to the basic rawness of dance music using authentic, rolling funk drums and musical influence wherever possible". We plan to continue taking the label and the sound to places we want to go, undictated by outside influence. Guevara style!

All Tricksta tracks are available through: DJ Download, Trackitdown, and very soon Streetwise Digital. As well as the major Tricksta releases, there will also be digital exclusive tracks constantly updating to all 3. The digital medium allows us to experiment with tracks and styles with far less risk and by default gives you the chance to get them way before they potentially make it to vinyl. There has been a time old debate on the merits of this and this will no doubt continue, but there is no doubt that it is a viable opportunity for diversifying Tricksta whilst we grow
