Turbonegro - Retox
After seven studio albums alot of bands show signs of slowing down, perhaps they can't be bothered any more or they lose the knack for writing the sort of songs that made them popular in the first place (see The Donnas below). Luckily Turbonegro keep the riffs strong and the jokes even stronger on Retox. The trademark humour (often of the toilet variety) is still evident on tracks such as the fabulously named Stroke The Shaft and Everybody Loves A Chubby Dude, but the songs are still top quality and may even be getting slightly more accessible with each new album. They'll never quite top 1998's fantastic Apocalypse Dudes, but this effort isn't far off. Pleasingly, Retox doesn't overstay its welcome, wrapping things up rather neatly with 'What Is Rock?'. well the answer to that may just be 'Turbonegro'.
