yeh thats the problem... too many people are whining, and not gettin up and doin it, the folk that are complaining fail to realise that they are part of underground scene.. its not an exclusive club of four or 5 people.. its everyone who posts on theses boards, comes to shows, and is involved in any way with the local music scene..
PS.. Chiweapon are excellent PPS.. I love you too nico |

I guess this isn't what people want though, it must just be cause i listen to a wide variety of music and get bored of seeing/hearing an hour and a half of similar music. anyway i dont want killed so i'll bugger off now and get arranging some gigs, hope to see you there? |

for the record i dont have 5 asses, Also I wouldnt whine abotu the scene in dundee, Edinurgh is terrible, we had some great venues The Tap, Cas Rock and The Atiic and in the last 3 years all of these have shut, thsi is where the majority of touring punk bands used to go now arborath gets more touring punk bands than we do, Edinburgh supposedly has a good metal scene and i suppsoe a strong indie one, but see punk gigs dont botehr trygin to put one on really, we playe dat the venue with and inde band and a metal band in august, the indie band sold no tickets the metal bands sold abotu 10 and didnt botehr to bring a bass amp and we were left to sell abotu 40 and more or less foot the bill for the gig, anotehr great example of an edinburgh gig, Dirtbox playign at bannermans, there were mroe perth folk there than edinburgh folk, the fact is edinburgh folk dont wanan go to gigs apart from a small minority and this killed everythign down here . This is why when i start putting on gigs next year i am gonan do it in glasgow with 2 glasgow bands and 1 out of town band getting a good trun out and lettign the bands meet new ppl etc? same with the cd im putting out 10 scottish bands 10 signed bands trying to get the bands mroe recognition in different places, basically we are more than happy to play a gig anywhere but edinburgh is our lest favourite cos ull end up playign to noone. i think use in dundee have probably the best scene in scotland with lost of varied bands and well i dont think i have any more to say apart from i really dont have 5 asses

But they have played with acts from all over the country in Dundee, attracting biggish crowds so that the bands got a good reception. Merocaine have split up now and Skintwire did two punk vs metal nights at the westie for charity getting full houses and raising money for charity (you were in em at time grossi?) I dont think any of Spyamp have any Net access and only Stew from skintwire does and he's on this board, so thats that point useless. |

Mark, what exactly was the point of that post? We're on about bickering between bands, and what do you do but go and attack three bands who HAVE done a lot for the scene, both we, merocaine and spyamp have always tried to play gigs at short notice, have always let any bands support us so as to give them a fair shot, and like al g says we arranged 2 punk v metal gigs long before tear-jerk even existed.
merocaine and spyamp also have played many gigs around scotland, and spyamp have made it to a radio one playlist as well as winning the T-break competition, and since they live in Dundee now, i think they count as part of the scene. and these boards are not the be all and end all of the dundee scene, respect due, sorted to KJ of course, but just because a band doesnt post here doesnt make them any less a part of the scene. Also as you well know I'm putting together a CD of dundee bands, alan is doing the cover-art, so if that is not doing anything for the scene i don't know what is. mark if you say anything like this again ill be forced to jab you in the eye with my penis...... .....again. |

Perhaps varying styles of the same genre yes, but i personally wouldnt advise that type of support act for the particular type of act.

hehe, hope u werent talkin bout me but neways...! i totally agree with Nico on this, the various scenes across Fife are almost completely daed now which is all because of A LACK of people gettin got know each other because gigs were so random etc. In gigs like the Purple Poodle one that nico was going on about, people came to see spactific bands and didnt really have much patients for any other bands or the music they played which resulted in a lack of spirit within the crowd as far as actually respecting bands goes. Although it was a decent gig with misled youth getting quite a good reception amidst a bit of heckling cause someone looked the "the sherminator" ( hehe) there was a real lack of communication between bands just cause there was really little in common between the music that was being played and so u didnt have newhere to start a conversation with anyone... which is the basis for speaking to neone whether its bands or not aint it?! In places like the underground scene, it is essential i reckon that people put on bands of similar lines ups initially, the scne is only just developing and in many cases so r the bands and so before u can branch out to expending to different muscial genres u have to establish yourself so u can make sure that people WILL ACTUALLY COME AND WATCH IT IF IT AINT THE USUAL THING to avoid situations like only bands mates turning up as an audience. saying that tho.. anyone wana giv chug a gig?! ![]() |

Well, yeah. Metal and Rap is something that me and a couple of others on this board are discussing at the moment. The two different styles need to compliment each other, and also the two sets of followers would need to respect each other too, other wise you'll end up with grudges and excessive 'competition' between the acts.
