Sex ed begins at home if you ask me. teach your kids right from wrong, a bit of morality, common sense and the the ways of the world.

You'ld be surprised how far that can go.

I've seen so many (for ant of a better term) neds, let thier kids get away with blue murder. I agree that its the ill educated that stir up a lt of the problems. However, society as a whole has to anwser to the problems of underage sex.

Its getting so bad that bear in the big blue house is being fought over by parent and child as there is only a 9 year gap between them. Does this not worry people??????

The sex ed thing is very true, parents should teach their kids about sex/periods/ stds and the rest. But schools need to reinforce this. Although people still have "it wont happen to me" attitude.

I have to admit that I find the attack on neds not parenting thier kids a bit unfair (I hate to get all social worky but let me finish) Yes some 'neds' do not parent their kids well but the same could be said about the so called intelligent career focused parents who hardly spend time with their children.

I work with parents who are children themselves and it is frightening! The thing about bear in the blue house is so true its unfunny!!

You could sit a group of 11 to 15 year olds in front of a TV droning "SEX CAN CAUSE STI'S" into their heads, but the truth is, they'll all get bored for different reasons. Plus the majority of those kids go out an get wasted, which at their age, not being able to handle acohol etc. can (and quite clearly does) lead to unprotected sex. Its always gonna happen, theres absolutely no way of stopping it other than locking them up till their old enough to know how stupid no protection is. I know im probably repeating stuff a lot of people have already said, but there isnt much we can do about the problem other than do our best to tell siblings or younger cousins or whatever the problems that can be caused. Like sex education, Underage drinking should be a topic to consider, as most underage sex is with people under its influence! sorry to bore you all...

Almost forgot, theres almost no point in parents trying to teach kids bout sex, since when the topic does come up, most of teh time both parties get a little embarrassed, causing a major fuck up ending in "PUT IT THIS WAY, IF YOU COME HOME AND TELL ME YOU'RE/YOUR GIRLFRIEND'S PREGNANT, YOULL BE OUT THE HOUSE!!!"
