Post Opinions on the best ways to promote a gig

thought this might come in handy for anyone looking to arrange a show. hints n tips etc, whats best to try out of a range of options, and other ideas people wish to add.

May sound daft i mentioned it to KJ before but you know how in some venues you get stamped so you can go back and forward. Well how about making up stamps with future gig information- dates etc...
Sounds complicated but Im sure you could get small interchangable numbers and letters and make them up backed up with flyers etc...

lol...plus people would get a reminder when they wake up in the morning when they find a big stamp stain on their wrist.

nah it's 'cause he's one of the Dundee Mafia. He used to smuggle cheap porm whilst pretending to be a pizza delivery boy! he has contacts and they make sure word is put about the town!

i remember one time i went to a gig and someone wrote something on my hand .... well i got a bit pissed that night collapsed when i got home and slept with my hand on my cheek.... well when i woke up for work i had a big number eight (eight page pullout gig @ westie) stamped on my face took 20 minutes to wipe off THANK GOD I NOTICED see so you should do the whole promoting gig thing with hand stamps then if ppl are as daft as me they will have it on there face!!!

i also got very drunk i think it was at slaphappy/dirtbox/muwk/segaboy gig at westie, i had stuff written on my arm from the wonderful candice!!! it stuck to my face also, but i didnt have the sense to whipe it off and went to breakfast the next mornign like that!!! i couldnt fathom why my family kept laughing at me

word of mouth is a phenomenon, a truly underrated one at that. Most of the tiem peoples excuse for not going to shows? they didnt know about it. Get people talking! Look what happened with Punkin for Apples! it was hyped to death on here, everyone i knew was goin, and it turned out to be one of the best nites of the year
