US/UK Soldiers
I imagine most people have seen the pictures on the news or in the papers of US soldiers degrading/torturing Iraqi prisoners. And they're well pleased with themselves.Smiling and giving the thumbs up.
A UK soldier has been photographed pissing on a prisoner. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3675215.stm Even Bush was disgusted(don't know if i belive him though) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/mid...st/3674355.stm This was bound to happen at some point. What do you think should happen? Any thoughts ladies and gentlefolk? |

its sick what they did, but i wonder what its like for the british/americans out there.
were these hostages part of a group that killed soldiers, have they watched loads of their friends die at the hands of the iraqis who are bein mistreated. I duno but if someone had killed my mates that would be the sort of thing that would put a smile back on my face. Having said that if these are innocent pow then i still think that its sick |

When there were previous allegations of this the MoD and government came straight out claiming "our boys wouldnae dae that" prime fighting foerce, best in the world etc. These pictures are absolutely abhorrant, especially the one of the man on a box wired up to what he thinks is the mains.
And those excused excuse? they asked for guidance but had had "no training" and "didnt get told the Geneva Convention". Well it didnt work in Nuremburg and it better fucking not happen here. These "soldiers" who commited these war crimes are the lowest fo the low and the sooner they are tried by an International body the better. But hey, this is free and democratic Iraw without a brutal torturing dictator adn as the apologist on the news said "this is not as bad as 10years ago" so that makes it all right then. Its only numbers and statisticas after all, if Saddam tortured 100people and we torture 99 then the Iraqis are better off. I eagerly await contributions to this topic from those who argued that anyone opposed to this war was either a "hippy" or a "traitor". These men have brought shame on our country and our armed forces but the people whop sent them there are just as guilty of each and every WAR CRIME they commit. makes you wonder whats happenning in Camp X Ray then if theres no cameras theer and similar claims of torture are brushed aside as lies eh?... |

Tony Parsons has an article in the mirror today thats worth reading. He's been pro-war form the start defending his position consistantly. Hes written an article about the beatings which includes the quote:
"And there can be little dispute that the liberating armies have become a force of occupation" This is extremely significant as even when the Mirror had its anti-war articles before this kicked off it was always him giving the pro-war view to counter it. Article |

I don't know why your all acting so shocked, Britian was of course the country that invented to cnocentration camp. Britian's human rights history, especially concerning war, is appaling. These 'atrocities' have gone on in every war ever fought by humans. It's only now that the omniopotent media can get their 'five eyes' into these situations. Or doctor them with photoshop. Take your pic.
If you are opposed to this war you are a hippy/traitor. Or a rat. Last edited by Caliban : 3rd May 2004 at 10:03 AM. |

Its not shocking that these things are happening, they are an obvious and expected progression when you train people to commit murder and dehumanise people.
its shocking because theres been a constant media onslaught that "our boys" are only there to "liberate" and fight against a "regime which tortures". Its opening peoples eyes that they have been lied to and manipulated into supporting the war. and what was the point of the last sentance apart from trolling? You dont see anyone against the war saying "if you post here supporting the war you love torture and want children to be killed and gangraped" do you? Cut out the trolling or ill cut it out for you. |
