You have to worry about these people. So far they have actually gone into the school, and made the threats. If they weren't serious about their cause, they wouldn't have stormed the school in the first place. It takes a lot to block out the fact that you will be threatening children. Convincing yourself that you are doing it for some greater good can surely only come about with mental conditioning.

Lets hope the Russians don't use their strong-arm tactics this time. These people could quite conceivably very capable of doing what they say they will.

they are very cabpable and have done so before. And will continue to do for the forseeable future.

This is a prime example fo why the "War on Terror" wont work. When you kill 1/3 of a countries population it makes the remaining 2/3 pretty pissed off at you...

well we all knew it would happen they stormed the school and kids died, im sorry but there is no cause worth little children being killed, makes me so pissed off words cant explain much more

i dont think the stand off would ever have been resolved without deaths though. Are you pissed off at the special forces or the terrorists, or both?

Apparently the rebels fired on Rusian police who were attempting to remove the dead bodies from the school grounds, so they retaliated and a few of the deaths were caused from the roof of the school collapsing. Apparently lots of bodies in the school but unclear as to how many are civilians and how many are terrorists.

well all the blame has to go to the terrorists, they started it all, as soon as u bring kids into the equation there can be no sympathy to any cause, the after math was just a ticking time bomb, god knows what the children/parents e.t.c have went through

totally. the taking hostage of kids is appalling as it would be with anyone else, but the innocence of children makes it even more disgusting. Whats equally disturbing is the fact that more and more women are being drawn into that conflict. Apparently two friends downed those two Russian airliners last week, a female suicide bomber killed 9 people outside a subway station and now this.

On the news on ITV, it was saying that most of the children were alive, but there are 100 bodies in the school hall. Aparently there were booby traps set in the school.

The reporters who are there said that the troops went in after two of the terrorists blew themselves up, and it was this that caused the roof to collapse.
Now there's still fighting going on, and the pictures are just of people getting carried about on strechers.

It gives me rage though to think that last night Putin said the safety of the kids was paramount, and then they just go all out to storm the place. Not very safe.

I hope once it's all cleared up, and the confusion dies down, it's mostly terrorists that are dead.
But I fear this will not be the case.

I think there wasnt much else he could do. If the stand off continued they would have killed the kids anyway. If two of em were prepared to kill themselves, why wouldnt the rest of em been prepared to kill the hostages. It must have been a total nightmare scenario for him... for anyone in that position really.

I was just talking to my parents about this, its so disgusting. Apparenlty the children that are out alive have said that they were given no food or water for the time they were in there and they were given bottles to pee into. Then they were told to filter their urine with their shirts and then were to drink that for fluids. Even the ones that have survived this will be scarred for life, nobody should have to live through that - grown up or child. I have no sympathy for the terrorists at all

To subject adults to that kind of terror is unhumane, but to take children hostage -especially when they're at school is just beyond belief.

It's completely unimaginable what they would have gone through - most of them probably wouldn't have even have known why or for what cause they were being held.

The dead are the lucky ones. The survivors would have seen friends and teachers killed, they would have gone through immense trauma and suffering during the siege and will now have to live with the memories and scars for the rest of their lives.

The Russian soldiers can't be blamed, they acted the only way they could under such confusing circumstances, they didn't know how many were trapped, what the hostage takers would do, or whether any more suicide bombers would blow themselves up. They felt they had to take action and perhaps they saved more lives than they would have had they taken other action. No one will ever know.

The Chechen Rebels are disgusting and completely stupid. Why would they even think that holding children hostage would help their cause? Surely its obvious that a stunt like that will only make people hate them, not listen to them.
