Iraq = Nam

I was trying to draw comparisons between the Vietnam conflict with the current war in Iraq.
This is what I've come up with so far:

The Coalition moving in without any good reason
The Coalition then letting themselves get drawn into a longterm conflict
Replace "The threat of communism" with "the threat of terror"
Britain was to Iraq as France was to Vietnam

I'm sure there must be loads more, but with such a limited knowledge of both conflicts, I was hoping for some help.

There won't be as many films about Iraq as 'Nam though.

The Nam films didn't really get into their hight of power until the mid-80s, so give it another 20 years or so....

conscripts from teh country to fight against the rebels in each
torture and rape of civilian population
dehumanisation of opponents (see above)

for a book on the subject try and get a hold of Empire Defeated by Peter Taffe ISBN 8709582762 which is all about comparisons. I got last year but havent ploughed through it yet.
