Well, a public one anyway. Ann Widdecombe's already done her research and concluded it to be 'a national disgrace'. I reckon she should perhaps do her reading and note that, if your ability to perform your job eas based on your religion, a Satanist would be far better placed to be superior at their job compared to a Christian. Thoughts?

Edit: after a quick look on the Beeb, i found this quote which will be what the people are worried about:

"The move will mean that he will now be allowed to perform Satanic rituals on board the vessel."

Widdecombe:

"Satanism is wrong. Obviously the private beliefs of individuals anywhere, including the armed forces, are their own affair but I hope it doesn't spread."

Bet she thinks Satanism is the worship of Satan aswell.

I think the name is supposed to be based solely on the fictional character from the bible. They dont worship satan, the religion is inspired by satan.

Satanists accept they are evil, as is every person. Satanism embraces what christianity defines as 'evil' and accepts that it is human nature to be 'evil'.

Not really, when you consider that the beliefs are contrary to that of Christianity to an extent i.e revenge as opposed to fogiveness. It's an apt name i think, but some idiot MP thought she would let out a mouth fart rather than get her facts right. I think she's the dumb one IMO.

its sad to see some of the papers that are constanntly printing aricles denouncing scapegoating of muslims etc are toeing the same line as the gutter press. Just goes to show they are all the same really (see David Miller essays etc)

I think Satanists are Atheists but not all atheists are satanists because they're not all so selfish. You could get someone who lives their life by the 10 commandments in the bible but not believe in God or all that stuff and are therefore an atheist (probably how I would like to be). But Satanists live by totally selfish standards and dont believe in God.

Well, i dont know. People could misinterpret your use of the word 'selfish'. They just believe that they shouldnt be afraid of doing things because a god says not to. Kinda like "if it feels good, do it". I wouldnt say they're only interested in themselves though.
