yeah, at the risk of sounding very harshly right-wing, these guys are in the army, yes i disagreed with the war, and yes its a tradgedy when any soldier dies but their jobs are to fight wars, and i do find it slightly hypocritical that people are complaining that the black watch have been called up, why should it only be american soldiers in the danger areas? we've been up americas ass all through this war anyway...
preparing for bad rep... |

I am following the Black Watch really quite closely just now cause I have someone I am very close to (he actually had his picture in Saturday's courier, he was the guy in the bottom left hand picture on the front page!!) who is among those who have been deployed to Camp Dogwood.
It made me very sad to hear Blair's decision to deploy them to there but at the end of the day my mate decided to join the army and it is his job to do what he is told to do wither he agrees with the decision or not (and us for that matter). My heart skips a beat everytime I hear of a death or even injuries in the Black Watch, it is the time when you don't know who is concerned, which is the worst. It is a relief to find out he is alright. It sounds terrible and I feel terrible when I find it a relief when I find out that he is alright, when someone else has a son/brother/dad/friend etc who is in a serious condition or even worse has been killed. My heart goes out to them and their families who, I can only imagine, are going through a terrible time. The whole situation really does sadden me but like I said the boys that are over there are doing the job which they choose and signed up to do, so they just have to get on and do it. It is just a case of waiting now, until blair decides to pull the Black Watch out, and hoping for the best. I will always get really worried though everytime I hear of injuries and death until I know the Black Watch are home and safe |

Here are a couple of sites people may find useful as well:
Official MOD page giving news on Operation Telic (Iraq) Send dedications, through the radio, to those you know in Iraq follow the above shortcut then select “Dedications” then select “Iraq” |

Well my mate was supposed to be home at the end of october but now he doesn't have a clue when he will get back, they have not been given a date yet and even if they do get a date I don't know how much they will trust in it due to it getting canceled and them getting moved like what just happened

Yeah thats why I am not holding my breath, Tony Blairs promises don't generally mean that much. I really do hope they are back in time for christmas, though I think it is just be a case of waiting and hoping that they get back in time and that they are alright!!

' IF TONY BLAIR HAD THE BALLS TO WALK DOWN MY STREET I'D RUN OUT WITH MY LITTLE BROTHER AND WE'D KNOCK HIM OUT ' Nov 6 2004
PRIVATE CRAIG LOWE YESTERDAY; FURY OF SERVING SOLDIER OVER DEATH OF HIS BLACK WATCH BROTHER PAUL By James Moncur THE brother of a fallen Black Watch soldier yesterday vowed to 'knock out' Prime Minister Tony Blair if he ever saw him. Furious Craig Lowe blamed the Government for the death of his brother Paul, 19, and two comrades near Fallujah, Iraq, on Thursday. A serving Black Watch soldier, Craig, 18, said: 'If Tony Blair had the balls to walk down my street, I'd run out with my little brother Stuart and we'd knock him out. 'We wouldn't hesitate.' He added: 'Blair sent us in to do the Americans' dirty work in a war we shouldn't be fighting.' Private Lowe, Sergeant Stuart Gray, 31, and Private Scott McArdle, 22, all from Fife, were killed by a suicide bomb at a checkpoint Scott was a rifleman in the elite reconnaissance troop. Last night, his uncle, Martin McArdle, attacked Blair for sending troops into a 'death trap', adding: 'We are devastated. You never think it's going to happen to your own until it does.' Sergeant Gray, of the mortar platoon, leaves a wife, Wendy, and children, Kirstin, 12, and Darren, 10. Yesterday, callous Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon claimed the anger of Black Watch families was 'unjustified'. His comment during a radio interview sparked fury - and his aides quickly tried to backtrack. |
