god, im glad these wont be out for a few years yet, but still i think they are quite a good idea for the whole terrorist situation. in saying that...it could come a bit too late.

i think the best thing to do about the whole terrorist situation would be to not support countries *cough* america *cough* who storm around the world fucking about with other countries affairs, murdering thousands so they can install a pathetic charade of democracy. just a thought.

yeah good thought and all but whats done is done, terrorists have a "slight" beef with the uk now so yeah id cards to kind of try and protect people...i duno how exactly its gona work...thats why im thinking its all too little too late

You`re right, they won`t stop terrorism, it`s just a way for the government to make money, and keep tabs on people (imo a violation of rights)

Technically none of us have the right to do whatever we want, when ever we want and where ever we want. the laws in the country prevent this i.e. i can't strip naked and walk into the center of dundee.

I don't mind the idea of ID cards it would make my life easier, less cards for a start.

What i don't agree with is the government's idea that it will cut terrorism why not just promote it as an ID card which is what it is and the reason for having it is so you can easily prove who you are at any time you like rather than some mighty crime fighting tool.

However I think you should have to have one before you can take advantage of certain public services (i.e. NHS, Library) that way if a wanted man enters a hospital (or by some miracle attempts to take out a book) the police can be alerted.

if the `superpowers` stopped selling weapons to every country that may have a reason to hate the western world , then we could maybe stop terrorism.

i will not be signing up to have a card untill the government make it impossible to survive without one, which they will eventually. hopefully i`ll not be here by then.

obviously there are quite rightly, limits to certain behaviour, but i am talking about the right to privacy on your whereabouts and what you are doing

Their function will "creep", and we (the public) ought to oppose them as matter of principle. It really is that simple.
