it's fair game though, you get your bags checked a lot of places where there are crowds of people (gigs, football matches etc.) it's a safety issue. Why didn't she just cooperate and save herself a load of hassle?

the police don't have a right to detain you and search you though.
just cuz it happens all the time doesn't make it ok.

100 riot police vs. 500 protestors. That is compeletely idiotic and a waste of money, the police were in full gear againts (on the majority) a few drunk local kids. All the violent protestors proved was that they can stir up trouble, apart from that nothing else. I have to say the police were far to heavy handed:

Beating up a protestor already on the ground (several police vs. one guy on the ground)

25 vans of riot police sent to deal with 25 protestors dressed up in clown suits, so probably about 50 police, 6 dogs in full gear againts a handful of protestors.

Riot police surrounding five "hippies" dancing at the bottom of the mount is a complete waste of time on the taxpayers expense.

The police being from all around Britain (not just Scotland) also means that the police not from Scotland wouldn't have bothered about the landscape seeing as they aren't even from Edinburgh.

If the police weren't as heavy-handed then i'm sure there wouldn't have been as many people involved in rioting. Standing by watching all of the above events must have outraged some people into defending the victims.

Just my views on it!
