Hello all,
first off, cheers for the heads up on the climate change demo in Edinburgh, hopefully i`ll see a few of you down there. Secondly i thought it would be worthwhile to share a link i found recently, this gives a pretty good overview of exactly how certain we are that climate cahnge is human caused and more extreme than natural variation...hope it is of some interest. http://climatechangeaction.blogspot....ntroduced.html |

A certain member of my family vehemently denies that climate change is actually happening at all, and if it is happening it is natural (ie. not man-made). I know that there are a lot of scientists who adhere to this view, I think largely on the basis that the Earth's clmate has changed radically many times in the past, and that climate is such a complicated system that it is impossible to predict what will happen in the future. At any rate, it strikes me as naive that the only factor on the agenda seems to be greenhous gas emissions: can it really be that simple.
I am not a scientist, so tbh, my opinion is worth shit. But I gave you it anyway, you lucky people.... :P |

i tend to agree with that, but also think that humans are contributing somewhat to accelerating the process. A recent study showed CO2 levels are at their highest in 650,000 years, information which was extracted from the North Pole.

Im not concerned in the least about climate change. EVERYTHING is in constant flux and constantly changing. Its just that its our instict to fear change because of the unknown.
After all, human beings are part of nature and therefore our influence on climate is not unjustified. ![]() |

incidentaly there were protests in 33 different countries today campaigning for more government action toward global warming. I think there was a fairly large protest in Edinburgh.
Apparently industrialised countries need to reduce emissions by 80% by 2050 to have any chance of stopping climate change, thats a pretty scary figure.
