HIV-Positive Man Recieves 15 Year Sentence For Unprotected Sex

A 36 year old HIV-positive man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for lying about his disease and for having unprotected sex with seven women in New Westminster, British Columbia.

Adrien Nduwayo had unprotected sex with seven women, three of them becoming infected with HIV, and one of them also having his baby. Nduwayo came from Africa in 1993, but was diagnosed with HIV in 1996. He lied to the women about his disease, and told his partners that condoms were unpleasant and unnecessary.

Nduwayo was found guilty of five charges of aggravated sexual assault, one charge of attempted aggravated sexual assault and one charge of sexual assault back in December. All of the women, except for one, consented with sex with Nduwayo, and the jury decided they would not have sex with him having known that he was HIV-positive. Nduwayo's baby is not infected with HIV.




Personally, i think he should be given life. 15 years is nothing to the years of hell he's put upon those 3 women. It takes a seriously sick bastard to rape a woman but to do it and know you have HIV....fucking hell.....

It is all sick enough without him knowing that if one of them got pregnant it would put his own child at risk of HIV.

It's not nearly a long enough sentence in my opinion.

Even if that's what was going on in his head, it's still no excuse to do that to innocent people

Its a minor point but does HIV kill? I was always under the impression that it leads to AIDS and that is what kills you.

Aids is caused by the HIV.

Aids is a group of diseases which can kill you, and when combined with a low count of something (t cells or some shit) can lead to a diagnosis of aids. I think.

no it doesnt. That table doesnt say that "this one person will give someone hiv in 0.1% of the times he has sex with them.

it says that anyone performing these acts has this chance of catching the disease. These fiugures will be factored with the number of people who have HIV etc too.

So for example someone with HIV may give everyone they perform one of these acts with who has the disease, whilst someone without HIV will never give anyone HIV and unless the person they are performing the act with has it will never receive it.

To be fair, 15 years might be life to him.

Personally I agree with sentencing these people for doing this. It's not much different from offering someone a drink you know to be poisoned.

Even though these people knew the risks, I think still think it's wrong for him to have done this knowingly.

Not really, if he had a relationship with each of these women then there is obviously a higher risk due to the prolonged exposure that would come with each occurence of sexual contact.

There was a story in Chat (of all places ) that was on about this woman who told her partner she had sex yet he decided to have unprotected sex with him and it took him a few months to catch the disease. He went on to shag an 80 odd year old woman who didnt know he had HIV and he got jailed for 3 years. The old lady tried to hook him up on a rape charge but it was found they'd had an affair.

Wasn't there the case like 10 years ago where a woman found out she tested positive and wanted a baby, so didn't tell the guys she was HIV positive. And they sued her I think.

Its become an urban legend now, having a one night stand and waking up to find 'welcome to the world of AIDS' or 'welcome to the AIDS club' scrawled on the mirror.
