It's a nice wee publicity stunt if you ask me. Was pretty sick being that it was advertising a childs theater but i reckon that was their initial aim.

is there not a line between something thats offensive and something thats in bad taste?

surely something thats offensive is something that to some people its fine and to others its offensive, whereas that sort of advert looks to me like its clearly in bad taste and not really a clever thing to base humour on. i think its easy to make gary glitter paedo jokes, but to make an advert on it in the way they have i think does cross a line.

Firstly, I don't think there's a difference between something being offensive, and somethign being in bad taste. Being in bad taste is just one particular reason that something might be offensive, it's not on a sliding scale of slightly offensive to bad taste.

Secondly, even if it were, I don't think see how there's a difference. Whether or not something is in bad taste, it doesn't give people the right for things that offend them not to be said.

These are the same kind of people that tried to get Brass Eye banned.

is this not a bit different though, with it being an advert anyone could come into contact with on a daily basis? brass eye is something a person would have to specifically choose to watch. personally, i thought it was amusing but can't see it as being that transferable to the usually inoffensive nature of adverts people are used to seeing.

The way I see it, if someone says something that offends you, then deal with it. If an advert offends you, for example, you're free not to buy that product.

thats a fair point, although i'd still say there are times when jokes about paedophilia just aren't suitable.

Firstly as i joke i dont think its that bad and anyone complaining about it needs to remove the stick from their arse however putting it on TV mentioning his name? Hmm thats slightly different mentioning a specific person's name. However my opinion on its "suitability" would be based on the time at night the advert would be shown.
