12 planets and counting?

Read this a while back, still dont think they have come to a decision but if they do agree on this it'll be pretty damn historical.

i thought pluto got downgraded.

also there's apparently maybe a really dim star orbiting the sun too :s (stick nemesis star into wiki)

It seems like they don't know anymore what a planet is. Apparently the moon could be a planet I read somewhere. Make you minds up guys!

Dwarf planets, hmm the PC brigade will be out in force soon saying that the Pluto might be offended by that and we need to call them "Little Planets" from now on. :P

I don't really understand part of their decision. Pluto isn't a planet because it hasn't cleared its orbit of other bodies (in this case Neptune), which is the third condition a celestial body must satisfy to be called a planet.

In reverse though, doesn't that imply that Neptune isn't a planet as it was unable to clear its orbit of Pluto. It just seems that if A isn't a planet because it overlaps the orbit of B, B logically isn't a planet because it overlaps the orbit of A.

I don't care though, it's just a rock millions of miles away, but I don't see how that third condition can be applied. I'm probably missing something.
