world trade centre
not sure if this should be here or in the arts but anyway, does anyone else find it bloody ridiculous to make a movie of such an event? everybody's seen the documentaries etc and know what happened and what the fire/police/etc services went through and so on. i just can't see what gave them the idea to cash in on it by making a (from what i've seen) shite film

I remember when I watched 9/11 happen on the news, one of my first thoughts was "count down until they make a movie out of this". Sad to see that I was right.
Cashing in on September 11th isn't really that new though. Apparently car dealerships were having "patriotism sales" the day after, and people were also selling American flags to cash in. |

It was always going to happen.
All the families of people who died were consulted about this before filming started and all apparently overwhelmingly support the film. I'm not saying I agree or disagree about the making of it, but if the people who were directly affected by it have agreed then I don't see it as a huge issue. I do think that they should give more than the 10% of the takings to the WTC bereivement *spelling* fund though. I mean it is better than nothing, but when you consider how much money it is likely to pull in it is pretty insignificant. |

I saw the trailer for this, looks like the cheesiest piece of shit ever made. It seems very 'up n' at 'em boys', typically self congratulary stuff. Imagine you died in the world trade centre, and that was how the day was recreated for the cinema going public. Next time they should blow up hollywood.

the film looks pretty cheesy and it's probably too soon, but it was always going to happen. |

You can ask the same question for why make films for WWII, WWI, either Gulf war etc.
I think making a game is worse than a film, but Medal of Honour is amazing, I have to admit. Edit- Actually, it depends what context you mean by ridiculous? |

Personally I think WWII games are a lot better than the films because they have much more atmosphere, it gives you a kind of feeling about how it must have been to fight in the wars much better than a film i think.
P.S you'll love this |

i maybe wrong. plus i havent seen this film, nor have i seen the one about the flight that went down. I just dont see the need to make these films just now. Are they making a film of the invasion of Iraq? or the London bombings? or the Madrid attacks? no i guess not. because there is dignity for the dead within those countries. |
