Brown plans devolved NHS board

The chancellor is considering devolving day-to-day control of the NHS to an independent board, should he become PM.

hmmm good subject! But nonetheless tricky. Im not really buying the publicly accountable slant to be honest. Local Government are publicily accountable yet still linked to central Government, they can legislate for that without devolving the NHS. My worry about this is that in the long run privatisation will mean charging for services similar to the American system and I this is something which would be shoit for want of a better word. What does he mean no targets etc ofcourse there will still be targets etc impossed on the NHS by some body, they are hardly going to say "You're free NHS people to do what you want woooo go people go"
