![]() What I'm really interested in is conditioning to cope with high impact on concrete as I still maintain it's not good for your body. There's not much I can be told about actual fitness and body strengthening exercises! Last edited by Hecate : 28th January 2007 at 05:18 PM. |

Biomechanics and Exercise science in Parkour
Interesting chat about the 90% rule Physio for parkour Eucational thread about parkour and it's effects on joints etc. Read pkdanno's posts That's mostly stickied or popular threads about joint damage and parkour. Running on concrete in a bit. |

Interesting to see the similarities between parkour and skiing conditioning as I used to do a lot of slalom skiing (medals to prove it lol) and competed occassionally abroad, and just like parkour there's the right angle rule! It's a shame the physio hasn't replied on the thread to everyone's joint, back and knee problem queries, unless her replies are elsewhere? Or maybe she decided to err on the side of safety and not give people advice when she hasn't actually treated them herself? Once there has been the research done into high impacts on concrete in Parkour I would be very interested to read it, as like they say, there are no long-term studies available yet, unless of course you have that in the other links you are going to post! |

A bit late but meh, conditioning in kung fu consists of hitting like to like bodypart with a sparring partner. Hurts so much, but apparently makes your body so much stronger. Hoping to get into it in more depth on the summer school i'm doing with kung fu. Maybe totally unrealated!
Also running on concrete is bad, ruins your ankles. |
