Secondly, while I disagree that vocally disagreeing with religion makes someone as bad as fundamentalists christians, gloating over other peoples' deaths because they have a different belief system, isn't much different from fundamentalist christians claiming that the latest natural disaster to occur was deserved, because we don't adhere to their religious teachings enough.

And anyway, even if a load of christians dying in a church proved that their god wasn't real, it has no bearing whatsoever on your argument that there is no god of any type. Perhaps it was the muslims' god smiting some christians because he's the real one? Perhaps noone's got the idea of god right, so he smites some of every religion?

I have no time for Dawkins' militant atheism. His delivery is, to me, really offensive, and it reminds me of Emerson's methods of delivering the idea of Transcendentalism to the masses; in a nutshell, I find his finger-pointing exceptionally patronising. Perhaps Dawkins' targets would pay more attention if he didn't come across as such an obtuse arsehole.

I don't know if he's already been mentioned, but Lawrence Krauss does a better job of delivering his opinions without sounding like a total fuckwit. Their angles are slightly different, given that Krauss doesn't vehemently attack religion, but rather places his emphasis on contrasting the differences between religion and science to strengthen his audience's enthusiasm for learning science.
