Britain in the European Union

BBC NEWS | Politics | Clegg pushes 'in or out' EU vote

"The time has come for a referendum on whether Britain should stay in the EU, Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has said. "

what do you think about britain in the eu?

personally, I wouldn't be happy if we werent part of the eu and I'd be looking to leave the country if it looked like we were gonna leave the EU.

Of course we should be in the EU, it helps us progress as a community of different cultures and drives forward our society.

Scotland has it's own identity but is part of the UK, I don't see why the UK can't be part of the EU yet retain it's own culture and traditions while embracing new ones.
As long as we retain our the ability to govern ourselves, it's not a problem.

That's one of the most one-sided polls on the site I reckon.

Good. I'd be worried if it were any other way.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would not want Britain to be in the European Union, unless your main source of world news and politics is The Sun.

I'd be quite happy to have the Euro currency in Britain, although I am admittedly naive (sp) on the subject of economics.

We're missing out on some pretty big investment by not being in the Euro. It'd improve the British economy dramatically. People are still scare-mongered by the ERM, which is pretty sad, really. Good on you, Daily Mirror.

Both.
SInce the Euro was introduced, Britain has lost a hella lot of overseas investment, as it's 'safer' for corporations to set up within the Eurozone where they don't have to deal with fluctuating exchange rates etc.
I don't have any stats to hand just now, but it is certainly significant.
