If you are on New Deal you still claim unemployment benefit i thought?

yeah but they get discounted in unemployment figures because they are technically also employed. You only get your jobseekers allowance if you are volunteering.

yeah, can't remember the exact rule but if the unemployment figures are released every two months, you are on dole for 7 weeks, week 8 you go onto new deal and as if by magic you don't count on the figures. a week later the new deal placement goes and it's back to the dole for 7 weeks.

Or whatever the equivalent figure is.

But woohoo targets were met and boxes were ticked.

in fairness, we use a few sneaky rules like that at work on contracts and deadlines and the like. Can't say its a government exclusive methodology.

not really, they still have the choice of saying no. Granted the alternative isn't great lol

by enforced labour, of course I meant people being whipped and such, like that episode of futurama with hermes sent on vacation.

Came across this piece of photo documentary today. A teenagers journey into the US Army. Pretty interesting.

Cheers KJ, just been reading and looking at that - it is pretty cool. some really good photography in there. The September 3rd (2008) picture stands out for me, as does March 23rd 2009 and August 15 2007. I'm not gonna paste them in cos they are faily big images.
