The universe is dying
"The lamps are going out all over the universe. Astronomers have found that not enough bright young stars are emerging to take the place of the old stars burning out, so, in the ultimate retirement crisis, the cosmos is simply fading away."
All I can say is, it's a good thing scientists are always wrong... |

well it does state "Prof Heavens and his team looked at the light from those making up some of the 40,000 galaxies nearest to Earth." so this os only an investigation into our part of the galaxy and then its been extrapolated for the entire universe. I would think there are still plenty of new stars forming at the gravitational centre of the universe.
P.S. No it wont affect us, we as a species will be long gone before even the Sun dies never mind the rest of the stars in our galaxy or the universe. |

what happens to sound energy when it "fades away"? could you invent some kinda thing so that if you were listning to your stereo loud, this thing would turn the energy into heat so the music heated your room aswell.? could someone email me an answer (coombser@hotmail.com) cos ive wondered this for years |

What do you mean?
As far as I know the distance the soundwave spreads is inversly proportional to the sound volume ro something similar. All about the energy it takes to moev the soundwave or whatnot. If you explain in more detail what you want to know Ill dig out the physics books. |

The problem comes with the efficiency of that change... Which is strange, I was always under the impression that there was a gradual shift off all energy types to thermal energy, thus the universe was gradually getting hotter, I seem to remember reeading/being taught this. Damn scientists, always changing their minds. |

eventually no more energy changes will take place because eventually all matter will have the same relative potential energy level or something. apparently. if that happened everything would be cold.

Hey there sports fans
the sun's source in the centre is a type of unknown metal, & it's able to stand the flame of that, but not for long, as it's getting hotter & the sun wont burn out, it'll come apart, a bit the size of a fist is enough to destroy earth, a part did land but far in the Ocean. anyone else hear about that? Chow ding |

no, but then i dont read the weekly world news :P
the sun will eventually expand out past jupiter before shrinking back again to become a dwarf. This will of course destroy the planets in our solar system but humanity will be long gone by then. |

Either that, or were all chilling on pluto, sipping juice thorough our ass tubes we've evolved due to the huge amount of sitting down we do... Or something |
