i think it would be for the best if you could disable this facility KJ cos alot of people seem to use it as an easy way to start arguments or slag someone off. im sure i remember a time when you couldnt post unless u were a member.

unregistered posting is only enabled on the band forums. Are you wanting this feature disabled? if so i'll obviously need to run a poll to see if those who have band forums agree :P

i've seen a lot of posts from unregistered user who dont get online much and cant be fucked to register, so leave important (or interesting) messages without doing so. To be honest i think this outweighs the abuse/spam issue, spam can be deleted and if you cant take a bit of abuse you may as well quit your band and start knitting, people are always gonna have an opinion and express it somhow, whether its posting on a message boards or guestbook or heckling you on stage.

everyone can take a bit of abuse, but when people start abuse and you have no idea who it is, its impossible to justify it id say.

i see your point but from my experience the unregistered guys who start arguments dont often make comments about how good/bad a band is, just insult members of ugs. im not in a band and got abuse recently from some person, if u see what i mean

If someone shouts from the crowd at a gig that your shite, you wont know who it is. If someone writes on a toilet wall that your band are shit you wont know who it is. there are a lot of was to criticise bands without them knowing who you are.

as for personal abuse, that sucks, report it to a mod and have it deleted. But most of the unregistered abuse i've seen has been directed at bands, in fact i cant really think of an instance it hasn't been.

I personally feel the boards would lose more than they stand to gain from stopping unregistered posts. All it would mean was that people would have to take 5 minutes out of their time to register before they could abuse people.
