Hey Kj, how about replacing the poetry forum, or one of the other little used forums with a debate forum?
Arguing with people about things is fun, and a lot of people on ugs obvioulsy feel strongly about a lot of thing.
It'd have to be quite heavily moderated otherwise it'd just get to personal insults a lot probably, but I reckon it'd be pretty good.

ye thats a good idea, means other threads won't get closed when they turn into a 10 page argument.

debate forum...? arcade forum...? while we're at it i'd quite like a forum for the discusson of traffic cones and other assorted roadwork related paraphenalia.

Nah.. I honestly think that it'd be kinda unnecessary, as any thread turns into debate if there's enough people passionate about it, be it about a band or current affairs. The "hot topic" usually turns into a debate, ie. glorified argument. I'm a big fan of modern studies and all that, but if you mean debating in the sense that people have to analyse data and then pretend to be on a certain side I don't see it being that fun that way either.

FIGHT FORUM would be much more fun where it was ALL personal insults.. of course I'd be way too pussy to use it.

Plus.. other people's views are just plain wrong. :P

I suggested before merging the hot topic and politics forum into a "proper discussion/debate" forum where people could talk or debate without having to deal with derailments or spam. Would that fit what you want?

in other words a new story posted in lounge/bollocks could descend into random posts of nonsense but posting the same in the debate forum would be for people posting intelligent responses to the topic.
