Balcony Bar, Dundee. First UGS sponsor

Well, i've thought long and hard and i think its time that the UGS looked for a sponsor, but not just any sponsor but a sponsor that is going to be active in the music community in Dundee; the city in which the UGS site is based.

So i'm pleased to announce that the Balcony Bar in Dundee is the sites first official sponsor. Details of this partnership will emerge soon but its a good deal for the site and it'll help out a lot if it works out.

So a big thank you to Ian at the BB for his kind offer.

any thoughts peeps?

the balcony bar is pretty shit, (no offence!) if i was going to have a sponser of the underground scene i'd make it something that could actually help, say an all ages venue, that isn't too small

I think the balcony is alright! With the exception of the 14+ thing it's ideal.

the balcony bar is going to be undergoing some changes which i think will help its reputation and its status as a venue.

Other sponsors are also being seeked.

I think having the balcony as a sponser is a great idea.................ok its not a total smart pub but its improving..................an all ages venue sponser isalso quite a good idea but the problem would be whom

the balcony bar has been pretty shit to a lot of UGS bands in the past... I saw that it's under new management though, so I guess we'll have to see how it goes!

Balcony is under good management now. I've worked with them in the past on some very successful gigs

everyone with over 2500 posts should get "i'm on ugs" id's that entitle us to free lunches

if it's under new management and they're making it over 14's i hope we can turn it into a good venue with our custom

Sounds like a great idea for the site..never actually been to the balcony bar but theres been a few gigs their.. maybe if it turns into a 14+ licensed bar with decent friendly management it could be a regular UGS event holder for small running nights for Local and Non Local UGS bands...if you tried to get a Glasgow venue as a sponser it may be harder but a nice small venue again would be good which didnt mean p2p for Local and Non-Local UGS bands..or even somewhere that will be of good use to the UGS'ers or the site..

BTW KJ my quick reply is working on this forum not sure about the rest
