Expand Information Technology

I'm sure I remember sometime ago when I was using UGS under a different name there were more rooms to do with Graphic Design, photography etc... People would ask for help on designs or post work done for critique and others would give them a hand and post up some ideas etc… This was the main thing I looked at.

However, now it all seams to be collapsed into the one single area - ::Information Technology::
I am wondering how people feel about this and if others would also want it back? I also hope that the UGS team post how they feel about this issue and what might happen in the future...

All that stuff would come under the art bit, rather than information technology.

I understand that it is art orientated but under the Description for -Information Technology- it read:
'Discuss issues you have with the IT world. Anything from Computers, Sci / Tech, Gaming to Web and Graphic Design'.

I am suggesting though to separate the topics up a little more...
IT is not a suitable area for web or graphic design really, IT suggests more technical issues relating to computers, not graphical ones relating to design.

Basically what I hope is that there could be one more topic primarily for Graphic and Web Design or maybe even another one just for photography… depending on the other users oppinions

We did used to have a seperate forum for graphic design etc, but it was extremely slow going. In an effort to refocus UGS as a music discsussion site, KJ, merged several of the individual forums into larger catch-all forums. If you do graphic design, feel free to post it in IT, or The Arts, or The Lounge.

Hmm... I never thought it was that slow. Bands were asking for graphics, sites and others would ask for views on their designs etc...

The IT section is mainly filled with games posts and the arts section is well 'Literary discussion, poetry, television and film.'
I am just wondering how many other community members would be interested in having an extra room say - Graphic & Web Design...

Would still like more views on this issue

I thought it was a good idea that was used quite a bit before and was useful to quite a range of people but yes, see how others feel about it too.

I too would be up for a specific section deicated to photography/design as long as it didn't turn into the lounge or bollox as has happened in the past.

You have not completely lost the plot with your statement. There are already many forums specifically for designers.

However UGS used to have a section specifically for graphic/web design and I personally thought it was great, as do a few others, so far... It was not always just any old design but designs for flyers, band logos, band website problems etc…

There are graphic and web designers amidst the UGS community that like to help and it gives them something to talk about that is sometimes more in their niche.

Anyway, still looking for more peoples views on this topic. If people are genuinely interested in this issue, the Graphic & Web Design section will be considered by the UGS team.
So have your say and post how you feel.

Yeah, some good photography would be cool, and some designs on photoshop would be good to see, other technology would also be good to see.

yeah but its always good to ask people how it can be done, and comment opinions on each others work, some stuff would be good to see, and what can be done through Photoshop/Photography etc..
