A Question About UGS

Why is it whenever I click on the latest thread in any forum while on the main forum menu, I never get taken to the start of the conversation? Instead I find it opens up on the second or third page regardless of whether or not I have viewed it already. It makes no sense and to be perfectly honest, it kind of pisses me off. Could someone please explain why this happens?

the "latest thread" link from the main forum menu takes you to the "first unread post" from that menu.

The site assumes when you log off that you have read everything you want to read so marks everything as read. So when you come back, if you didn't read the start of the thread, the "first unread post" will still be the first one since you last logged off.

When i say logged off, this doesn't always mean you log off, if you leave UGS inactive for a while (something like 10-15mins) it does the same thing.

If you only have 5mins to read stuff on UGS in the morning but still want UGS to know what you've read and what you haven't read, you can stick it on a game in the Arcade while you're away and the session wont expire.

Rebelius hit the nail on the head. Thats exactly what happens. Its meant to be for convenience to stop you rereading or searching through for where you left off.
